    Ardabil






    About history and architecture of Province

    Rich culture and history have led to creation of many historic places in this region. Most townships have valuable historic places. Geographic situation some of this region includes more historic relics. Tomb of Sheikh Safiaddin Ardebili located in Ardebil city includes various historic structure from different periods. several historic relics have been discovered in a cemetery called "Gabr" around Garmi township, most of them refers to Ashkani era. Ghahghahe and Divghalasi castles are interesting attractions of the region.

    Mosques

    Ardebil Congregation Mosque
    Ardebil Congregation Mosque is remainder of a big structure related to Seljuk era. It is located in a cemetery in Pir Shamsoddin district. There is a minaret located near the mosque. There are two inscriptions on the minaret.

    Islamic Religious Centers

    Imamzadeh Saleh
    There are a mausoleum in Molla Moamen District called Imamzadeh Saleh or " Oghlan Imamzadeh Mousa". This mausoleum includes yard and mosque. According to the poems on tiles, this structure has been built in Shah Abbas (I) era (1130 A.H).

    Worship Centers of Minorities

    Holy Miriam Church-Ardebil
    This church is located in an alley named Gazaran or "Oncho Meydan". It is less than two hundred years old. There is no clear information about construction date. Date written on its door shows 1876 A.C. but it refers to the date when the door has been gifted to the church.

    Caravansaries
    Shah Abbasi Caravansary
    Shah Abbasi Caravansary is one of the constructions related to Safavi era. Due to politics of the routs it was built by order of Shah Abbas Safavi in Ardebil-Sarab Road.

    Gardens & Edifices
    Hosein Gholi Sadeghi's House
    This edifies belonged to Hussein Gholi Sadeghi. It is located in Rahmanieh alley. It is one of the old and attracting edifices of Ardebil.

    Bath
    Pir Zargar Bath
    This bath has a simple door and saloon, but internal parts are old and interesting.
    Safavieh Bath
    Safavieh Bath is located in Nayebi Street. It includes square pillars and dome. Walls and roof have tile working.

    Historical Bridge and Dams
    Samian Bridge has been constructed on Qareh Sou River in 15 km. from Ardebil. This bridge has 6 springs and it belong to Safavi era. Materials applied in the structure are stones and brick. There are 4 minarets in 4 corners for directing passengers in the nights.

    Tombs
    Sheikh Safi Al Din Ardebili Mausoleum – Ardebil
    This is a complex of monuments built in various periods that was constructed for the first time by Shah Tahmasb. Later, Shah Abbas added to the previous ones and renovated some parts. The dome of the building is decorated with the name of Allah. Shah Ishmael I and Some of the Safavid kings have been buried at this site.

    Amin Al Din Jebrail Tomb – Ardebil
    This mausoleum is located in Kalkhoran Village in Ardebil. It belongs to the ancestor of Safavid dynasty the father of Sheykh Safi Al Din Essaq.

    Seyyed Hamzeh tomb- Ardebil
    Seyyed Hamzeh tomb known "Sari Aghasi" is located in the southern part of Sheikh Jebraeel Tombe. Structure of the tomb has been made by brick and it has a circular dome. It is said to be tomb of Seyyed Hamzeh- one of Imam Mousa Kazem's Sons- who came from Baghdad to Ardebil to directing people of Ardebil.

    Bazaars
    Ardebil Bazaar – Ardebil
    This old Bazaar located in Ardebil city is related to Islamic period. Most part of the bazaar have been constructed and repaired during Safavid and Zand eras.

    Historical Inscriptions and Hills
    Nader Hill- Aslandouz
    This hill is located in the southwest of Aslandouz in Moqan. Nader Shah’s coronation feast was held about 300 years ago in this region. This hill used to be a residential site from 1000B.C. to about 400 years ago.

    Qarah Shirvan Hill- Ardebil
    This hill is located in Kouraim Village. Here there are tombs which belong to 700 or 800 years B.C. and are classified as elite, public and animals.

    Sassanid Shapour Inscription – Meshkin Shahr
    This inscription is located about 100 meters to the east of the main square in Meshkin Shahr and in a valley named “Dareh Baq-e- Norouz”. It belongs to Shapour II.

    Citadel, Castle, Tower and Minarets

    Old Castle – Meshkin Shahr
    Old Castle is located at eastern heights of Meshkin Shahr. It is a large area with four brick and muddy walls located on stony foots. This structure has three towers. At two end parts of the structure there are remainders of two old towers with muddy walls.

    Shater Gonbadi Tower
    Shater Gonbadi Tower is located in Someae Village, 8.5 km from Ardebil. There are archaeological hills related to pre-Islamic era near the tower. Due to architectur method it is probably related to 8th century.


    Historical cities and village

    Garmi Region is one of the oldest regions in Moghan Township. Discovered historical relics show its antiquity. Some reminders are: Qiz Qale si,Hacha Tappeh Si, Agha Ali Tappeh Si, Islam Tappeh Si, and Yelsoee Castle. There is an old cemetery in this region.
